Casting On

Casting On

Putting the first row of loops of yarn on your knitting needle, all ready to knit, is called casting on. There are many different ways to do it, but the following one is the one I prefer to use. It's very similar to making a knit stitch, so once you've mastered this casting on technique, you'll be well on your way to knitting!

This video from Love Crafts is a great way to learn how to cast on, and also covers casting off, and the basic knit stitch.

When you cast on, don't make the stitches too tight on your needle, as you will find it hard to knit into them.
